Jennifer “The Bolivian Queen” Salinas

Jennifer Marie Salinas was born in Annandale, Virginia to an American mother and a Bolivian father. She spent her early years in Virginia before moving to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where she lived until the age of 15. Throughout her school years in Bolivia and the United States, Jennifer was always active in athletics, and her involvement in wrestling led her to the boxing arena. Jennifer began boxing as an amateur in 2001, winning the Michigan Golden Gloves championship her very first year of training. This win ignited her passion for the sport and she began her boxing career in earnest.

Her amateur career was short, requiring extensive travel to find worthy opponents. After only 8 fights, with the support of friends and family, Jennifer turned pro in 2003. Her pro debut, won by unanimous decision, matched her up against Nicole Beard at the Delta Plex Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. After her third fight as a pro she had first child Jaida. A few months after Jaida was born, Jennifer was back in the ring against Sara Schneider, hoisting her baby girl in victory after a second round knock out. She continued her boxing career for the next several years, training with some of the best trainers in the boxing world. Jennifer worked with Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Cassius Green while training at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas. Jennifer took a short break from boxing to have her second child, John Pablo in January 2008.

Following the birth of her son, Jennifer thought she would leave boxing behind. Working at LA Boxing in Chantilly, Virginia as a fitness instructor and a personal trainer, Jennifer decided to get back in the ring with the support of Tate Marshal, owner of LA Boxing. Her comeback fight was marked with a successful knock-out of Christina Leadbetter on May 2, 2009. With the support of her LA Boxing family as well and trainers Daniel Attah and Lawrence Jones, Jennifer is now realizing her dreams. She’s asking for a shot at the title by the end of 2009.
